The world of E-commerce

We’ve been exploring the world of e-commerce with our clients lately and have stumbled across an interest concept: shipping information, and how to best display it on a consumer site for the greatest impact on comprehension and engagement.

To illustrate the type of testing we’re doing around this problem, we ran a survey on an Amazon product details page (PDP) for a funny mug to understand the current impact of the shipping information on impressions with the page.

As you can see from the attached screenshot of the data, shipping information doesn’t even crack the top 5 most important pieces of information on the page. There’s even a slightly higher percentage of participants who say it’s the least important info to see while looking at items to purchase online.

Check out the full Amazon PDP test here: Helio | Design Insights we dive deeper into this shipping info concept, the questions that we have for our target users continue to pop up:

  • where in the checkout process is shipping info most valuable?
  • can branded shipping options increase comprehension and engagement with expedited shipping?
  • how much of an impact does the shipping info make on consumers’ purchase decisions?
